Point of Perspicacity – wonderful words

Perspicacity [pur-spi-kas-i-tee]
Keenness of mental perception and understanding; a penetrating discernment—a clarity of vision which provides insight.

I think I was 4 when I had my first point of perspicacity, and it all had to do with the word Mother.  It was the day I realised, and felt proud, that I was able to spell a ‘big’ word.

I was brought up on big words. From early on, for some reason, I embraced words with multiple syllables.  Sometimes ridiculed for it, none-the-less I stuck with them, like good friends.

It wasn’t about boasting, rather it was about love. Who wouldn’t love a single word that could sum up so neatly what you wanted to say.

Substantial words would always bring a smile to my face. There was infinite enjoyment to be had in their rust-covered usage, the way they took their time to roll off the tongue. And like good friends, many have stuck with me through the years, coming to my aid often in times of need.

PS:  Whilst I have the opportunity, I would particularly like to thank my BFF, the one who has stuck with me throughout ~ Plethora. You are simply wonderful.
